EU Grant Funding
In late 2021, as part of Ireland’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), the Department of Education and Youth provided grant funding to schools. This initiative was supported by the European Union through NextGenerationEU funding under the Recovery and Resilience Facility.
St. Andrew’s NS, Lucan was among the schools that received this timely support to implement initiatives aimed at addressing the digital divide and supporting learners at risk of educational disadvantage. The impact of Covid-19 school closures had underscored the stark disparities in access to digital resources, both between and within schools.
The grant was used to help close this gap and to advance our Digital Strategy, which focuses on leveraging digital technologies to foster active participation and engagement in a wide range of learning experiences.
St. Andrew’s NS, Lucan allocated the funding to:
- Replace outdated digital devices
- Refurbish older devices, which were then made available for students to borrow when needed
- Purchased tablets for classes
Access to funding opportunities like this is essential for schools seeking to fully engage with the Department of Education’s Digital Strategy for Schools. St. Andrew’s NS, Lucan welcomes the support and looks forward to continued investment in the future.
